Antagony: Days of night

16/12/09  ||  Kampfar

Antagony started out in ’96 but back then they were unknown under an entirely different name, YFH namely, something I of course learned by visiting The Metal Archives. I also learned that them here cunts did punk back then, as opposed to death metal/hardcore nowadays, but they are obviously not hardcore enough for the Canucks in charge of said site to abolish and piss vinegar upon their entry. And I’m not saying they should, fuck if I care, though I wonder how many percent core they allow in their “bands”? Is 51% metal and 49% core an acceptable set of numbers?

Truth be told, Antagony is more metal than core, a lot even, but since The Metal Archives isn’t named The Metal/Core Archives I insist on being a prick. Even more truth be told, I wrote all this crap just for the sake of having an intro.

Kill your family!

Antagony doesn’t make me want to kill anyone. Their (mild) death with a bit of core has it share of qualities, especially some of the blasting sounds really rather good, but even though their are a competent lot with a bit of know-how onboard they first and foremost instigate meh in my penis. Not meh as in total boredom, mind you, but Viagra it sure isn’t. And neither is the production, semi-professional and a bit scrappy indeed. Not raw, just a tad scrappy.

Rape your mother in the face!

Antagony is at their best, but never plain good, when they ditch the core and let the metal almost flow. Listen to “The truth will be known” if you want to them at their worst and “Days of night” to experience the opposite. Other than that, do not buy this album.

Fuck you all of course.
